Weather-Run Living
October 2nd 2008 12:00
As much as the kids would still love to play, it looks like there will be no soccer game tonight. Practice was cancelled last night, as well. The rain is pouring down in sheets, so it’s not exactly “playable” weather. The fields are soaked, so even if it weren’t raining it would be too wet to play.
So, our lives are pretty much “weather-run” already. We’re used to his happening in the winter because it snows so much in Maine, but the rain isn’t usually something we have to contend with when it comes to planning. This morning, we were all standing under umbrellas wishing the bus wouldn’t be late again . . . and it was . . . so, we were all wet and grumpy.
What will this weekend bring? I have no idea. The forecasters said the rain was supposed to let up today, but it looks like they’re off a bit on that. So, if I see that clear skies are in the forecast for this weekend . . . I think I might be inclined to disbelieve, rather than depend.
Are you experiencing a “weather-run” lifestyle these days? How do you explain to your children that things will change based on the weather from time to time?
