Time For Mom
August 23rd 2008 19:41
When the kids return to school, I do plan to work more than I have been during the summer. This is, of course, for obvious reasons. I’ve already started putting this plan into action.
I’m also going to schedule in some “ME” time one or two hours per week while I’m alone. This summer has been so busy and so full that I’ve managed to let myself fall through the cracks. All the work I did through the Total Mom Makeover program has seemingly slipped right out of my day-to-day routine.
It’s easy for this to happen. Moms get caught up in everyone else’s routines, they try to meet everyone else’s needs, and they get caught up in being everyone else’s caregiver. That’s our role, that’s what we know best, and that’s what feels like a normal life.
That is, until we think, “wow, I’d really love nothing more than to just sit here and do nothing. NOTHING.” A day of nothing sounds glorious, but I’ll settle for one hour at a time at this point. Who knows, it might grow into one whole day if I’m lucky. I don’t see that happening in the near future, though, because we’re a large family and tending to all the “family’ness” is a full time job in itself.
Do you take time out for yourself throughout the week, or at least once per month?
