Summer is Winding Down
August 29th 2008 11:22
This summer really hasn’t really felt like “summer” around here because the weather just didn’t want to cooperate. So, days in our little blow-up pool didn’t happen as often as we’d hoped. Evenings using the grill and making S’Mores didn’t happen as often as we’d hoped. And, trips to the playground didn’t happen as often as we’d hoped.
Last year, these were daily events . . . each sprinkled evenly throughout the week. We were always so busy with summer activities, and it felt so great. When we think back on last summer during this one, it’s really depressing.
We found other ways to make this summer good, but in a different way. We created a lot of art, wrote a lot of stories, and read a lot of books. The kids also did a lot of imaginative play pretending they’re at work, at school, and that they’re storeowners. So, the time was still fun and well-spent . . . it just didn’t “feel” like summer.
We’re hoping fall will cooperate. Typically, fall is my favorite time of year. What is your favorite time of year?
