Returning to School, More Work For Mom
August 21st 2008 12:15
Returning to school in this household is the sign of many changes afoot. Not only is the family adjusting to a new schedule, I’ll be working more hours. Over the summer, I’ve been able to (sort of) manage working while taking care of the kids, the house, and errands.
Part of what I love about my job is that I can buy the supplies I need when school shopping for my children. Sometimes, I find myself buying more of what I like than what I need. It’s a quandary, but it’s still fun!
My children don’t notice this new change in the schedule because they’re, of course, not home. The only person in the household that is really affected by it is myself. I don’t mind this because it’s one less thing for me to worry about transitioning the family into. I like the feeling of heading into productive days, but I worry at the same time.
I can’t help worrying that I’ll be overwhelmed, or rushed throughout the day. That might be because this is the first year all three of my children are attending a full day of school. Last year two attended a full day, and one was home around 10:45am. The years before were a complete mess because we were involved in a mix of preschool and public school.
So, maybe this year will be a good start . . . it’ll be something new for us all. Now it’s time to end this blog entry and line up some more work!
