The Kids Are Running the Show Today
August 1st 2008 15:03
Today’s homework with the kids includes working from craft books I checked out from the library. It interests me that we have had these books in the library book bag since Monday, but the kids just discovered them this morning. At least they will not go unused.
A cold has settled into my head and chest, so I’m hoping they can work on some of these projects while I watch. I want to participate, of course, but I feel terrible today. They can work on their reading independently, for the most part, as well as their math and writing. So, that’s a huge help on days like these.
We’ll also be working with a dragon book today. I want them to try recreating the creative intricacies of this book in their own handmade books (they make them frequently, but rarely know how to really utilize them in an exciting way). Their imaginations are an exciting part of projects like these, so I’m really looking forward to explaining this project to them and letting them take over and go in whatever direction they’d like.
Do you try to stay within your daily routines with your children on sick days?
