Mommy, When Are We Going to Do an Art Project Again?
September 16th 2008 16:59
My guilt-riddled mind searched for an answer quickly when my youngest son asked, “Mommy, when are we going to do an art project again,” this morning. OH NO! We used to work on art projects daily around here, but there’s been so much going on . . . that it hasn’t happened . . . in weeks.
I feel so guilty. Very guilty. Too guilty.
I know this is a reality all moms have to face. You know, that moment when things have to slip by in an effort to keep up with priorities and responsibilities (like homework, jobs, food, clean clothes, and things like that). However, this type of quality time HAS to be a priority, too . . . it’s our responsibility as moms to see it fit into the schedule somewhere.
Needless to say, we’re working on an art project when the kids arrive home from school. I have a collection of notebooks, some paper, staplers, and glue sticks. We’re going to make, “what I’m feeling right now,” art journal pages. That way, I can try to gauge where each child is “at” right now. We’ll repeat this project, and write stories until they go off for visitations with their other parents.
This weekend, a new family schedule is being created.
