Is it Possible to Resolve All Conflicts?
August 28th 2008 17:48
The short answer: no.
The long answer is, that despite making every effort to please everyone, it just isn’t possible. It may SEEM possible, but it really isn’t. The goal to resolving conflict should be to reach the best possible outcome for all parties involved, not giving in.
When it comes to resolving conflict with family, don’t just cave in and give the other person their way just because it’s the easiest thing to do. The same is true when it comes to resolving conflict with children. Yes, there will be anger, hurt feelings, and resentment. That’s part of conflict and, sometimes agreeing to disagree is the only measure.
Here are some links to help you with this effort:

There are many books available about this topic, as well. If reading about the topic isn’t enough, reach out to therapists and councilors for additional advice, resources, and opinions. There’s a lot to learn when it comes to resolving conflict and, rather than heading into the situation with a hot head a lot of stress, figure out the proper way to do it first.
