I Miss Naptime
August 15th 2008 18:31
I can’t help wondering how it is that naptime has gone from a welcomed event to a thing of the past so quickly. Yes, I was one of those mothers who used naptime to regroup, relax and, sometimes, take my own nap! Gone are those days.
I won’t lie. I really miss naptime. Now that my children are six, seven, and eight, it is no mystery that naptime has been gone from our regular routines for quite some time. As I sit here now, during such a calm and comfortable afternoon, I would love to curl up and take a nap.
However, if I passed this notion passed my children, they’d run away screaming like wild animals in an effort to protect themselves from such torture. I can’t blame them, really. I remember naptime being my least favorite time of the day when I was younger . . . until, that is, I fell asleep and felt so comfortable and relaxed when I woke up.
Maybe I’ll take a nap this weekend sometime. Who knows?
Do you miss naptime? Are your children young enough where it is still a struggle to get them to sit still and decompress? How do you handle your naptime woe’s?
