Snacktime Woes
July 14th 2008 12:33
Snacktime in my household used to be a real struggle. We're a blended family and the children visit other relatives, as well. So, there's three or four different households influencing the tastes. This, of course, meant a lot of junk food.
This is why snacktime was a struggle here. It was our decision to raise our children using healthy choices and having junk food as a treat now and then. We have plenty of low-sugar yogurt, fruit, veggies, and cheese. It wasn't until we had discussions with the other people in these other households that the struggle ended.
Strong communication all the way around is important when it comes to raising children. Why do they need to be pumped up with sugar and salt? They don't. We've noticed a huge difference in how well they pay attention, their behavior, the appetities, and their sleeping habits . . . and it's all been positive changes.
Is snack time trouble in your home? How have you solved the problem? Do you have issues with negative outsitde influences?
