First Day of School, and Work
September 2nd 2008 00:26
Tomorrow, my children return to school. We have one first grader, and two second graders who are eager to get their pencils going and their minds working. Our youngest is anxious to show his teacher he can read Dick and Jane stories with no help, and the other two are looking forward to getting to know their new teachers.
Tomorrow, I start working full-time (uninterrupted) again. I’ve mentioned before that I tried working full-time throughout the summer, but failed miserably. I did accomplish quite a bit, don’t get me wrong, but I wasn’t able to knock out what I’ll be able to do with the house empty for a large chunk of time.
This will be the first year all the kids attend school for a full day, so I feel like my career is really going to blossom. At least one, two, or three children have always surrounded me during my workday at one time or another (I was pregnant with my first child when my career began in 1999), so this is going to be very new for me.
New beginnings for us all, I guess. It’s exciting, and a wee-bit overwhelming for all of us, as well. We’ll all do great, though, as we venture into our new roles and routines. I think we’re all looking forward to seeing what this school year will bring.
