Finally, ONE School Supply List Arrived!

August 23rd 2008 19:15
Yes, that’s right, one of the teachers sent out her school supply list. We’re still waiting on three more. THREE. School starts September 2nd, so I’m hoping too much time doesn’t pass. I’m bringing our youngest to the school Monday morning for his Grade 1 reading test, so I think I’ll receive his supply list then.

It looks like I’m right on target with what I’ve purchased so far, so no extra shopping yet. I’m thankful I held on to the supply lists from last year because this ONE that we’ve received looks to be the same. I know, how difficult could it be to buy school supplies for a first grader, two second graders, and a tenth grader, right? Well, it is! J

In with the list was also an overview of what the teacher plans to present for each subject throughout the year. It looks like she’s going to have some pretty exciting things going on and I can’t wait to participate with homework! I love that we have active learners in our household. I hope the other classes (and I’m sure they will) will be as exciting!

Do you have an idea of what your children will be doing in their classrooms this year?

I will be home-schooling through the first semester of pre-k for Jaden. With our situation, this seems to be the best bet for our family. We will be touching on all the fundamentals that Jaden will need for Kindergarten and incorporating some of his favorite characters/stories/shows into the mix.

Honestly, I would *love* to homeschool our children. I love education, I love that they're active learners, and I love working through the various tasks with them. I don't love how the school system is, I don't love how many negative influences surround them, and I don't love how they could be learning more than they are.

I think it's GREAT that you're doing this!
