Don't Touch!

Why oh why do strangers feel the need to touch my baby on the face or hands?! They are like bees to honey! We were at church the other day and this complete stranger comes up to my husband and touches my child on the chest. Awkward! Then, a few weeks ago we were at an awards breakfast for my mother and all her friends (whom we have never met, mind you) kept touching his face. Its like they have this insatiable need to touch a baby in order to say how cute it is. Please, don't touch. Hands off. Keep your paws to yourself!
Now, family and friends, I don't have so much of a problem with. But come on, especially because of the "first-time-germ-obsessive parent" in me, you would think they would think twice!! I cringe every time someone touches him without washing their hands or drenching them in hand sanitizer first. Yes, he is now 4 months old and yes, we are "technically" out of cold and flu season, but I still can't help but scream inside every time a complete stranger feels the need to put their germ-y paws on my son. Am I alone on this? All I know is when my best friend had her first baby, she made me aware of this silent epidemic. I now never touch babies without washing up first, because I know that "mama bear" is watching my every move. I know I would feel horrible if I made that baby sick because of my carelessness.
Look, I know every one is different, but this is such a basic-hygiene-common-sense thing. I'm not asking every one to get vaccinated against every know illness known to man, before they can even LOOK at my son. Just wash your hands or how about...DON'T TOUCH! Sheesh.
Maybe I should just make him a bazillion onesies that say..."Did you wash that hand before you smothered my face with it?" Or how about "Got hand sanitizer"?

I don't have a child yet (trying for my first this year) but I already know that I won't be tolerating this kind of thing. It's one of those situations where you need to disregard people thinking you're impolite, and just tell them to back off!
Easier said than done, though....

I do not know about the awards ceremony but at church maybe folk wanted to pray for your son and were doing that on the quiet.
They should have asked first.
The other thing is your baby boy is a beautiful child and as time goes by will break a lot of hearts.
