Reality Mom - Reality Mom: My New Found Reality

Reality Mom - June 2010

Over the Line!

June 24th 2010 00:51
So, being a new parent, I have come to discover many things I did not think about before. Like, planning to get ready around the baby, being a "poopologist", and now, parking. Yes, parking has become a new pet-peeve to me.

When my husband and I go grocery shopping, for example, we park farther away, thinking that nobody will park next to us so we won't have a problem getting my son's carseat in the car. Well, inevitably people end up parking next to us anyways. Its like we are some kind of magnet or light that bugs are attracted too. Well, the worst part is the way they park next to us. I'm talking about over the line! UGH! So much so, we can't get his car seat in from his side.

One time, I voiced my amazement so loudly, the kind women inside her van heard me and moved the car over so we could get in. That was very kind and polite of her to do that and needless to say, I felt like an arse for making a big deal of it. Not many people would do that.

Then the incident that led me over the edge happened. Me and baby were coming out of the mall and going back to our car in the parking structure. I again parked at the end as to avoid an hassles. Well, then I approach our car and guess who decides to park all crooked in their big fancy SUV? That's right, the clown-nose next to me!! I thought, ok let me try to see if I can get the seat in. Nope. Then my frustration rises. I end up loading him through the other way and get the stroller in the trunk. As I get in the car I decided to leave them a nice note. Yes, really, a NICE note. I didn't curse or be mean, I just told them to be more courteous when parking next to someone because they could have a car seat to load. I put it on their windshield and went along my way, feeling better. I never realized that, before becoming a parent, how parking crooked or over the line could affect someone's life.

Now, I realize that note might still be attached to the windshield or was driven through a carwash, but the principle makes me feel a lot better!
