I'm Afraid of My Mailman....

May 21st 2010 20:52
I think our mailman doesn't like us anymore. Now, I carefully make my move to get our mail. I wait until he's around the corner of our neighborhood. I will even wait until I see his truck go by.

So, it all started with a piece of mail we received that wasn't ours. It was for a neighbor up the block next to us. I told my husband to put it in his mailbox, because it was a bill and I thought he would need it right away. So what does he do? He writes, in red mind you, "wrong address...." on it and puts it back in our box. I told him he shouldn't do that because, A: it was lazy and B: the red ink and large writing looked a little harsh. So, that day when I pick up the mail, the mailman left a nice little note saying "Please don't write on someone else's mail!". Yes, he used an exclamation point. That little exclamation point set it off. When I showed the note to my husband that night, he was mad. He said that the mailman was the one who made the mistake in the first place and he should do his job and correct it. I told him that he is correct, but the mailman might of been a little offended by his "tone". To top it off, I have seen like 3 different mail people since and have no idea if it was our regular dude or someone filling in for him.

Dear Mr/Ms. Mail-person,
I don't want to fight. I want to make peace. I feel like there is this distance between us now. I long for the days when we would wave at each other and sometimes leave candy for you at Christmas (ok, I only really did that once). I'm sorry for my husband's actions. He was upset and yes, a little lazy. Yes, we already forgave you for that time when we came home and you were blocking our driveway. While you sat in the shade, I nicely waited, with my blinker on, for you to move. I understand your job is thank-less sometimes and I have heard dogs are not your friends sometimes. But, please don't take it out on me. I love going out to our black mailbox to see what treasures you have delivered for us that day. I have loved getting the mail ever since I was a little girl. I don't want to be afraid of you. I want to make you the highlight of my day again.

...Well at least 2 for now.
Ok, so now that we are down to one income, I have to budget like I've never budgeted before. Put the pedal to the medal and get every last dime to work for us. Its not as hard as some might think. I have a few "secret" sites that I don't share with every one. But I will share with you guys. You might have heard of them before, but they are great! I love coupons too! My husband always makes fun of me, but since I quit my job, he doesn't joke anymore! HE is the one asking now if we have a coupon before we make any type of purchases.

Ok ready, here they are.....

This is my all time favorite....www.bradsdeals.com
This site has every store imaginable and any current coupons associated with them. I have saved a lot, especially online, with this site. They also send me "daily deals" that he finds. LOVE IT!

www.redplum.com.........I discovered this site in the coupons section. It has a lot of handy hints, freebies, and yes of course, coupons.

Ok, these are only 2 of my sites, if I discover any more I might share those too I figure with the way the economy is still in the crapper, every one can afford to save a buck!

Oh and if you have any good websites or tips, please share with the rest of us!

Happy Saving!

Don't Touch!

May 13th 2010 01:03
Why oh why do strangers feel the need to touch my baby on the face or hands?! They are like bees to honey! We were at church the other day and this complete stranger comes up to my husband and touches my child on the chest. Awkward! Then, a few weeks ago we were at an awards breakfast for my mother and all her friends (whom we have never met, mind you) kept touching his face. Its like they have this insatiable need to touch a baby in order to say how cute it is. Please, don't touch. Hands off. Keep your paws to yourself!

Now, family and friends, I don't have so much of a problem with. But come on, especially because of the "first-time-germ-obsessive parent" in me, you would think they would think twice!! I cringe every time someone touches him without washing their hands or drenching them in hand sanitizer first. Yes, he is now 4 months old and yes, we are "technically" out of cold and flu season, but I still can't help but scream inside every time a complete stranger feels the need to put their germ-y paws on my son. Am I alone on this? All I know is when my best friend had her first baby, she made me aware of this silent epidemic. I now never touch babies without washing up first, because I know that "mama bear" is watching my every move. I know I would feel horrible if I made that baby sick because of my carelessness.

Look, I know every one is different, but this is such a basic-hygiene-common-sense thing. I'm not asking every one to get vaccinated against every know illness known to man, before they can even LOOK at my son. Just wash your hands or how about...DON'T TOUCH! Sheesh.

Maybe I should just make him a bazillion onesies that say..."Did you wash that hand before you smothered my face with it?" Or how about "Got hand sanitizer"?
